Five Months into Doing It Different

This morning I was thinking about our 2021 theme that the Pastor shared with us: "The Year of Doing It Different." As I thought about last year and the beginning of this year 2021 I wondered about some of the things that I've done differently this year. A few things came to mind. And, I'm quite sure that if we all took time to think about it we'll say, "Yeah, I have done a few things differently this year."

On Sunday, April 25, 2021 we found ourselves in the Church parking lot for morning service. We've been accustomed to that since the Pandemic. But Pastor always checks the weather and determines if we'll be in the parking lot or not. This particular Sunday, we were in the parking lot and the weather didn't cooperate. IT WAS COLD AND WINDY AND FOR A TIME THE SKYS WERE GRAY. But we were there and determined that God deserved worship, praise and adoration even on a cold day in the Church parking lot. Sure, we shivered some, but when we began singing praises our spirits warmed up. We prayed that God would get the glory in the cold. We heard the Word of God and were strengthened and encouraged to go forward in our own Christian lives. We had fun outside in the cold in the Church's parking lot. It was different and I was glad to be a part of it. Pastor even coined this phrase: "We have to press into worship."

Almighty God who stretched out the North over the empty places, the only true and living God who gave the first ever command when He said: "LET THERE BE LIGHT," is the same one who brought us out on April 25th to do something different. He's too vast to try to make Him fit comfortably into our finite imaginations. He's to big to be put into our little bottle. He's AWESOME!

Let's say, as the psalmist did in Psalms 115:1 "Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake."

Here's to doing it different in 2021. Love you all.
