Most every Sunday, I say to our congregation, "Remember to pray for our church and for our nation." And since I admonish everyone to pray for our nation, I want to give points and scriptures on how to do that.
This nation is in a great spiritual dump, and we need the prayers of God's people to intercede on its behalf. In fact, I want the church to know how to pray more broadly for our community, our nation, and our world. So, looking at scripture, here are some basic tips that I think Christians can follow to pray for our world:
Pray the Lord's will be done, always. (Matthew 6:9-10)
Pray for our leaders, that God give them wisdom to lead and govern with the right spirit/intent/heart (1 Timothy 2:1-2, Proverbs 21:1; 1 Kings 3)
Pray that the eyes of the unsaved would be opened to see the truth of Christ (Romans 10:1, Ephesians 1:18; 2 Kings 6:12-18)
Pray that Christians would continue to boldly proclaim the Gospel (Ephesians 6:18-19, Acts 4:29) and also to extend the love of Christ to all. (John 15:12-13; Luke 6:27-31)
Also, I'm sharing a link to another blog post about praying for our nation. It is pretty inspiring and helpful. https://www.desiringgod.org/articles/what-should-we-pray-for.
Please check out weekly the church's blog posts, as I share with you what the Lord has put on my heart. I love you all.
