THANK YOU TO OUR GUEST BLOGGER: SISTER MARIA WALTON FOR THIS INSPIRING AND ENCOURAGING BLOG POST!
How can I and anyone who believes in our Lord Jesus Christ remain faithful in hard times? That's a really good question to consider, especially in these times of COVID-19.
Remaining faithful has to be embedded or steeped in our hearts and spirit. Not only that, but remaining faithful is just like the air we breathe. As the oxygen in the air nourishes the body, faith in Almighty God nourishes the heart and the soul. It's the energy that courses through every single fiber and cell within our well being.
In 2019, I dealt with some situations that I thought I'd never experience. March, 2019 changed my whole entire life! My brother passed away. When he died, a part of me went with him. I was so devastated. Every once in a while I would have these crying spells or go through short-term depression or I would isolate myself and not talk to people. To this day, I am still going through it.
Between June and August of 2019, I went through health issues. I made an appointment to see the doctor because I felt like I had a urinary tract infection. They tested my urine and the doctor said, "You are experiencing a lot of blood. We are going to take a blood sample." My levels were so low that I had to take an iron supplement. Also, I was anemic. Then I went to see a gynecologist about my problem and I had to get an examination. The gynecologist said that I had fibroids, which made my monthly cycle really bad. It also explained why my blood count was so low.
I admit that I was frightened that the fibroid tumors might be cancerous. But even then I also knew that I had to have faith in God. I prayed that those fibroids were not cancerous. The doctor put my mind at ease soon letting me know that the fibroids were benign. I was truly so relieved. The next month I had a checkup and my doctor told me that my blood levels were back to normal. We were both ecstatic about that!
God truly blessed me! The issues that I dealt with made my faith in the Lord stronger than ever before. For anyone going through hard times, I want to share with you two Bible verses that will help you for a long time to come:
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
I Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight.
In Christ Our Savior,
Maria
